Volunteer for events
ADBA events wouldn’t happen without our volunteers. Whether it’s helping on the shore, supporting crews, or keeping the day running smoothly, there’s a role for everyone. Volunteering is a fantastic way to be part of the dragon boating community, meet new people, and contribute to the success of our sport. Paid roles - ADBA Sports Coordinator
Time commitment: Up to 20 hours per week (paid role, fixed term – 6 months)
Rate: $25/hour
This part-time role supports the ADBA committee with events, marketing, funding, and admin. You’ll help coordinate our Corporate Splash events, support marketing and sponsorship activity, and pitch in across the season with communications and logistics. You’ll be working alongside committee members who will guide and support you.
This is a fixed-term, paid contract role designed to help grow the sport and strengthen our operations behind the scenes. You’ll be expected to provide short updates at monthly ADBA committee meetings.

Volunteer Committee roles
ADBA Strategic projects coordinator
Time commitment: 4-5 hours/month - project dependent.
If you’re a big-picture thinker, this one’s for you. The strategy is already written - your role is to help bring it to life and think longer term. That might include building relationships with council, community groups; helping grow the sport across Auckland; or supporting the setup of new training locations. Flexible time commitment depending on projects – great for someone proactive and passionate about the future of dragon boating. You will have the support of the all committee members to bounce ideas off. You’ll be expected to attend monthly committee meetings and give a short update on your progress or ideas.
